PASE is an Artificial Intelligence powered online platform for finding political issues from major online political action platforms and predicting results to suggest possible solutions + political action management service.

This web-page is purpose built to give information about PASE. Interested in becoming part of the team? Write an email to: paseorg@gmx.de

Political participation needs a cultural change, with a focus on long term impact. Many political platforms urge individuals to participate in online petitions or actions on a daily basis by sending them many emails with different options. This model is focused on getting a click and some donations. But we need better models of inviting long term participation from users to improve their active involvement in social issues over a longer time frame. It has to become a political culture for the users.

At a practical level, many individuals do not know what happened to petitions or other political actions they supported. They feel frustrated at the huge number of emails they receive from political action platforms. They also feel many petitions do not make sense to them. Political Action Search Engine(PASE.org) solves all the above problems. It focuses on quality of political participation over quantity using Artificial Intelligence.

Users will be updated with monthly emails about the petitions or other actions they supported, and given options to make them successful. The updates will also give a bigger perspective of the topic, providing a better understanding of the debate around the topic. Until the supported petitions or actions reach their logical conclusion, the users will be given options to take further action without distracting them with new petitions or actions to support.

What is this project all about?

During my PhD research into online petitioning platforms such as Avaaz.org and Change.org, many petition signers highlighted some issues which made it hard for them to continue supporting those platforms. They stopped checking the emails they received from those platforms, or lost confidence in the ability of those platforms to make an impact, or felt that they did not know what happened to the petitions they signed making them to drop out of any future petition participation.
This project aims to solve the above issues raised by the participants who felt let down by the online petitioning platforms, and the realization of the insufficiency of the existing political participation culture promoted by those platforms.

What is the project goal and who is the project for?

The goal of this project is to create a platform which aims to solve the issues highlighted by disheartened participants of online political platforms. It is a one stop solution for the issues raised by acting as a single place for searching petitions and other political actions using filters, and managing the petitions and actions that the user is really interested in supporting. It works as a personal political action management service for the individual who feels participation in online petitions and other direct actions from so many different online platforms is tiresome and confusing.
It is a single platform for managing everything related to online petitions and any other political actions of the users.

Why would you support this project?

Online political platforms are growing in number, and their users too. But many users who find these tools useful, also find some aspects of these tools confusing and irritating. PASE is a solution for the top problems raised by the discouraged participants of those platforms.

Political participation needs a cultural change, by becoming a part of people's everyday lives through simple mechanisms of political participation. With few minutes on a weekly or monthly basis, and a focus on single topic, users will become used to taking up an issue and pushing it till its logical conclusion without any distractions.

How will we use the money?

The money raised will primarily be used for building PASE platform. It will be mostly towards software and AI development and registering and founding. Any future revenue and profits will go back into making PASE an efficient and transparent tool of cultural change in social and political issue participation.

Who are the people behind the project?

I am the sole initiator of this project at this stage. My name is Satish Thalla. I completed my PhD in October 2018 on Online Petitioning Platforms. It was during my personal interviews with individuals across Brazil, USA, Germany and India, that I realized the shortcomings of the existing online petitioning platforms and came up with the idea of starting a platform for solving the most common issues raised by the disheartened interview participants.

Social injustice all around me, prompted me to end my well established and prospering private sector career, to understand society further in order to improve it. An M.A. in Global Studies before the PhD allowed me to understand the interconnection of a globalized economy all over the world, and how at least some individuals in all parts of the world have to be active social and political participants for our world to become liveable for most of us. A PhD in Global Studies with a focus on Online Petitioning Platforms, prompted the idea to start a platform for solving the issues raised by disheartened users of such platforms who lost confidence in the effectiveness of online petitions.
